From Addis Ababa the main road, A2, runs in the north east direction and crosses over from the Oromia region into the Amhara region after about 100 km. After another 50 km, it reaches Debre Sina.

If you continue, the A2 will turn straight to the north and pass Kombolcha and Dese en route to Tigray, where it passes close to the regional capital, Mekele.
