What We Do
Long ago, the Seyoum family had connections to a school, not far away from Debre Sina.
During her visit to Ethiopia in January 2022, Senait hoped to visit the school, but safety concerns made access impossible. Instead, she and her sister Mulu found the school in Debre Sina and decided to take action to improve conditions for its children β then around 400 pupils between the ages of 6 and 10, a number that has since grown to approximately 800.
Our Mission
Even though the children look happy, their families were in many cases traumatized by the recent war. Debre Sina was as far as the TPLF-offensive reached late in 2021, when many observers believed it would shortly reach the capital city.
Civil infrastructure, including schools, had visible scars reminding people of horrific experiences. School children in Debre Sina felt unsafe by having to spend their time in classrooms full of bullet holes and cracked windows. Repairs had started, but due to lack of resources they were mainly of cosmetic, short-term nature. We want to change that.
